Detroit nightlife is not uptight—gambling and drinking are playful bedfellows in Detroit’s infamous casinos. In addition to three dominant Detroit casinos, the Motor City has a bevy of other legal gambling establishments. Open 24/7, Detroit’s MGM Grand Casino, located in downtown Detroit, is a chic casino with state-of-the-art slots and modern gaming, in addition to hot nightlife and live music. In the nearby Greektown neighborhood, a trendy, up-and-coming, post-recession Detroit nightlife and dining district, MotorCity Casino is a classic Detroit casino catering to the young and perennially restless. Last, but not least, Detroit’s Greektown Casino, also in the trendy Greektown district, is a historic casino with an ample Poker room and proximity to some of the area’s namesake Greek restaurants.
Greektown Casino
555 East Lafayette Boulevard, Detroit, Michigan; Tel. 1.888.771.4386
Was there a Greek god of gambling casino's? We guess that would probably fall under Dionysus' jurisdiction, or is it Diogenes? Whomever it is, we're sure not even he envisioned something like this. The Greektown Casino is a sinful pleasure and the centerpiece of the historic Greektown district in Downtown Detroit boasting a ton of slots and gaming tables with probably the largest room around devoted solely to poker. The casino has a couple of restaurants, but we'd suggest stepping out the doors and grabbing some authentic Greek fare at one of the many restaurants nearby. Don't worry, the doors are revolving so they'll let you back in if you're so inclined.

MGM Grand
1300 John C. Lodge, Detroit, Michigan; Tel. 1.877.888.2121
The MGM Grand Casino in Downtown Detroit rivals anything out there in the desert. Open 24/7 and sporting about 75,000 square feet of gaming space including 2,800 slots and 72 casino tables, with four restaurants (one with a killer buffet, and really, what's a trip to the casino without a stop at the buffet, you have to get something for free) and live, local entertainment nightly, the MGM Grand is a gambling paradise. But, let's keep it responsible, those Detroit nights in winter can get pretty cold especially if you lost your shirt in the casino.

MotorCity Casino
2901 Grand River Ave., Detroit, Michigan; Tel. 1.877.777.0711
The MotorCity Casino in Detroit (where else?) is a four story gambling mecca that boasts a ton of slots and gaming tables, with four restaurants (the infamous buffet again) and live entertainment nightly. Like every casino, MotorCity, has a diverse crowd, but caters more to the young and hip, those bright eyed gamblers that are hoping to get rich quick. But, hey getting rich takes time and patience, and as we've experienced, a decent line of credit.
